From reinvention to reproduction of civic activism: Portugal’s anti-austerity social movements on Facebook

The period saw unprecedented civic mobilization, resembling international movements such as the Indignados in Spain and Occupy in the USA. In Portugal, movements like “Geração à Rasca” and “Que se Lixe a Troika” reflected a significant period of social conflict, primarily opposing austerity measures.
